Health Promoter
Location: Manukau Office, Auckland
12 months fixed-term position
Position Purpose
The Health Promoter delivers public health education, advocacy and community
engagement to raise awareness about factors contributing to gambling harm and how to reduce harm for individuals, families and communities. To promote gambling host responsibility to communities, venues and societies.

Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of the Mapu Maia National Public Health Plan.

Territorial Local Authority submissions and public health campaigns.
-
Meet all agreed public health targets.
-
Complete all public health activity reporting accurately and in a timely manner.

Support Gambling Harm Awareness activity.
-
Work with the Class 4 sector to promote safe gambling environments.
-
Engage effectively with local community groups to support local advocacy.
-
Engage effectively and build relationships with Pacific communities to build support for gambling harm minimisation.

Support stakeholder relationships and ensure stakeholder engagement is documented on the Stakeholder Database.

Establish quality relationships with local Pacific community groups.
-
Develop relationships with organisations that work with people who have experienced gambling harm and related issues to encourage help-seeking behaviour to support achievement of vision.
Experience and Expertise
-
Tertiary level qualification in health promotion and/or public health.
-
Experience in working with Pacific communities including Maori.
-
Full and clean drivers licence.
-
A passion to work alongside Pacific communities.

High level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.) and with telecommunications database systems.

High proficiency with Salesforce, Onedrive, Cloud-base Systems, Canva, Zoom, Team tools to facilitate engagement with the team.

Organised with a high attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task.

Knowledge of all useful directory and sharing platforms.

Ability to work in environments which require a high level of confidentiality.
